Dos and don’ts for a better day
As we near the end of alert level 4, here are a few do’s and don’ts to keep you going.
Do:
- Start your day by taking 2 minutes to review your plan
- Then remind yourself what you’ve got rather than the things you need
- Tell your family that you love them and that you’ve got it covered
- Call your manager and ask them what more you can do to help the company
- Talk to two friends or colleagues in need and tell them that you are thinking of them
- Eat well
- Exercise for 30 minutes
- Read something useful
- Assess your contribution
- Appreciate you’re alive
- Relax for a bit
- And go to bed on time
Don’t:
- Be scared about the future – instead, think about what you can do to make it better
- Yell at the family for getting in the way – instead, tell them you love them but need to concentrate on your role and adding value to others
- Question your relevance or self-worth – instead, be relevant to those you’re supporting
- Distance yourself from others – other than in the physical
- Eat rubbish – all the time
- Lie on the couch – all-day
- Get consumed by the news or social media
- Beat yourself up for feeling out of sorts
- Berate your pets or neighbours
- Cause a mess
- Place unnecessary demands on the family
- Hog the remote
- Sneeze in public
- Or be unpleasant when you know there’s an alternative
